I talk about the heroic journey of following our passion and living our purpose.

I speak about the big questions of life, “What am I here? What is my purpose? How do I gracefully navigate the adventure of passion an purpose?”
Wrestling with these questions underlies the chapters of my life as a young Jesuit seminarian, TV producer, finance executive, founder of two media companies, professor of an MBA-level leadership class, and age-group triathlete. It has led me to explore the intersection of leadership, entrepreneurship, and wisdom traditions — the Enneagram, Jungian Depth Psychology, and Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. These I’ve shared in talks and keynotes:
- Finding Passion and Purpose in Your Life Story: The Hero’s Journey for Our Time.
- It Took Me 20 Years To Do What I Really Wanted to Do with My Life: An Accidental Entreprenuer’s Story
- The Call to Lead: Purpose, Innovation, and Calling. Aligning Our Team’s Why with the Organization’s Mission
- In Sports as In Life: What Triathlon Taught Me About Fear, Grit, and Transformation
- Facing the Dragon: The Enneagram in the Hero’s Journey
I’d love to hear more about your event and organization to find how we can work together.

The Hero’s Journey for Founders and Entrepreneurs
They are described as those who take leaps of faith from a cliff and build the airplane on the way down. Internally, founders and entrepreneurs all go through a Hero’s Journey of personal transformation. What does that journey look like? What are the chapters and tasks of each stage? What are the character qualities needed to navigate each stage?
An Ikigai of Calling and Purpose
When we ask, “What should I do with my life?” or “How do I live out my calling?” we explore four important dimensions: what moves me, what am I good at doing, what are the problems I care about, and what are the opportunities in front of me today. In the intersection of all these, I’ve found that leadership, entrepreneurship, and spirituality start to talk about the same things.
